Fifty years ago, construction began on the Berlin Wall. To the West, the Wall was a symbol of oppression and totalitarianism. In communist Eastern Germany, it was known as the'Anti-Fascist Protection Rampart'. When the Wall fell, thousands of pieces of cement became symbols of freedom around the world.<br /><br />Pieces of the Berlin Wall turned into international collector’s items after 1989. Entire slabs were shipped around the world. In the South Korean capital Seoul, a piece of the wall stands as a memorial - especially significant in a country that's still seeking its own reunification.
